Ondo State Governor Rotimi Akeredolu has returned to Nigeria after several weeks in Germany for medical care.
The governor touched down at Abuja’s Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport around 3:20 pm today in a private jet.
According to sources, Akeredolu arrived via a United Aviation flight despite initial plans to fly directly to Akure Airport.
After immigration formalities in Abuja, he will reportedly continue to Ibadan Airport before proceeding to his Ibadan residence.
Governor Akeredolu departed for Germany on May 31st to receive urgent medical care abroad. Since then, his deputy Lucky Ayedatiwa has been acting governor during his extended absence.
After rumors emerged over his deteriorating health, pictures and videos were released on social media to prove the governor was recuperating well. Akeredolu also wrote to the State House of Assembly requesting an extension of his overseas medical leave.
The governor’s return to Nigeria after over three months ends a period of uncertainty over his health. Sources indicate he may spend his remaining leave in Ibadan to fully recover before returning to official duties in Ondo.
Akeredolu’s smooth arrival is a relief for citizens eager to have their elected governor back after a prolonged period of treatment. His recovery will allow the resumption of effective governance in Ondo State.
