Growing up back then was honestly just vibes, cartoons, biscuits, and pretending to be an adult for absolutely no reason. Here are a few things almost every child probably remembers doing.
1. Watching cartoons while drinking bread and tea before school
One of the best feelings in the world was waking up around 5 a.m. and sitting in front of the TV till it was time to get ready for school. From SpongeBob to The Powerpuff Girls to Ben 10, that was the real Netflix and chill.
2. Mixing sand and leaves inside containers and calling it “soup”
Every child suddenly became a professional chef once they found empty buckets, bottle covers, and old containers. You would mix sand, water, leaves, and flowers together, then proudly announce that food was ready while your friends acted as food critics.
3. Carrying teddy bears or pillows like babies
Children loved acting like parents for absolutely no reason. One minute you are a child, the next minute you are carrying teddy bears on your back, scolding imaginary children, and cooking imaginary stew.

4. Feeling like Children’s Day was the biggest celebration ever
Children’s Day used to feel magical. Going out, eating ice cream, wearing your best clothes, taking pictures, going to Ogba Zoo or ITV Children’s Day events, everything about the day felt exciting. And if you ended up at Mr Bigg’s eating meat pie and ice cream, then your day was officially complete.
5. Eating biscuits and snacks that somehow tasted better back then
Cabin biscuits, Okin, Goody-Goody, Fan Ice, Gala… childhood snacks just tasted different. Half of the happiness of being a child was opening one small biscuit pack like you had just won the lottery.

6. Trying to win the biggest balloon
Remember back then, the games where you had to pay and test your luck to win the biggest balloon? Every child believed they were one attempt away from carrying the giant balloon home. Most times, the balloon never followed anybody home but that never stopped us from trying again. Some things you never really forget.
What childhood memory still makes you smile?
