The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has said that the Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, may return to the Rainbow Coalition after coming back to Nigeria.

Wike told journalists that Fubara reached out to him before leaving the country.

He added that the governor is expected to come back into the political structure known as the Rainbow Coalition, which is linked to his camp and supports a wide network of political groups ahead of future elections.

According to Wike, the communication between both leaders took place before Fubara travelled abroad, suggesting there is still some level of political connection between them despite past disagreements.

Gov Fubara called me before he traveled out of the country. He will be joining the Rainbow Coalition once he returns,” the FCT Minister stated during a media parley on Monday.

There has been no official response from the Rivers State Government on the claim.

If the return happens as stated, it could change the direction of political alliances in Rivers State and reduce tension between both sides.

The Rainbow Coalition is a political name used in Rivers State, Nigeria, by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, to describe a broad alliance of different political parties and groups working together.

It is not a single registered party. It is more of a political arrangement or network that brings together members of major parties like the PDP, APC, Labour Party, and others under one umbrella for elections in Rivers State

The idea is that instead of competing strongly against each other in the state, many political actors agree to work together on shared interests, especially around elections and political control.
