The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) faction led by Nyesom Wike has announced former Cross River State governorship candidate, Senator Sandy Onor, as its consensus presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.

The announcement was made in Abuja during the collation of results from the party’s presidential primary process.

The exercise was led by the Chairman of the Presidential Primaries Collation Committee and former Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom Samuel Ortom.

The committee said the process came after consultations with party members across the country and voice voting in different states. Members from the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory took part in the exercise that led to the final decision.

Senator Sandy Onor Sandy Onor emerged as the only aspirant after picking up his nomination and expression of interest forms earlier in the month. His selection followed internal agreements within the factional structure of the party.

Officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission Independent National Electoral Commission were present at the party secretariat in Abuja to observe the process during the collation and announcement.

After the declaration, the party leadership handed over a certificate of return and the party flag to Onor, confirming him as the faction’s presidential candidate for the 2027 election.
